Catamaran – tour in Cozumel

So, one hot June day group of employees of my department assembled by the central pier in downtown. Snow-white catamaran with striking name “Fury” already set sail. Boat was looking like mix of Soviet water bike and yacht. As per inscription on the deck, it could accommodate 128 passengers. Vessel had two levels, impressive aft part, plenty benches, life-rings, bar counter and steering-wheel.

We comfortably seated on the benches and listened to greeting speech of three Mexicans, our crew. They mentioned that all drinks today are free in unlimited amount. That fact made everybody very happy!

Mexicans unsecured catamaran-yacht from the pier and departed from the harbor. Doubling our cruise vessel, and picked up the speed. After promise make everybody drunk they turned on their local music – salsa.

Actually we visiting this kind of activities infrequently, everybody were feeling shy from the beginning, but beer, fresh air, bright hot sun delighted all workers briefly.

Salsa made everybody dancing – Europeans, Latins, Indians and other Asians. A lot of people were taking pictures by the steering-wheel, which was turned around by Mexican captain for show purpose.

We sailed at the distance of mile across white sandy coast . Picturesque hotels, fazendas and hasiendas alternate with green impassable jungles. Sugnificant speed and fresh sea breeze made everybody’s mood up. Beer, tequila and soda were spilling like river.

After probably 20 – 25 kilometres we docked to one of the parts of the beach. As per conditions of the tour we had here one hour and half. Catamaran stopped right by the shore, but still first step from it was into azure water up to waist.

I placed my staff on the beach chair and jumped into the water. Swam off the shore, I made a stop of flat platform, swollen not far away from the coast.

Then I moved to water batoot, jumped for a bit, however this high intellectual activity I didn’t like much. Then was more interesting – it was a turn of white swollen iceberg with handles. Iceberg was made in the shape of pyramid; main was pull myself up to first level and take body out from the water. I succeeded with difficulty, taking into consideration fact that at that moment I was really in good physical shape, I claim that not too many people could manage that exercise. Height of this tomb of pharaon was about 4 – 5 meters. Next I took a bit of rest hanging on the top, holding the handles, and then jumped into the deep sky-blue sea.

Further was kayaking . Kayak is a floating staff made of plastic in the shape of Red Indians boat, but more light and handy, with seats. Steward – Mexican complaisantly gave me one of the hanging on the rack lifejackets and showed me area, allowed to sail. It was easy to sail alone, but when one passanger clutched kayak from the back, it was even hard to start out.

Meal was waiting on the land, I chose international version – hamburger with pasta and Mexican salad and than continued with beer. And after that, lying in the hammock, suddenly I saw a tremendous varan, which crawled out of the nearest jungles and indiffirently stared with wide-open eyes at me.

Varans are strange animals . Plenty times I observed this kind of lizards, but I have never seen them in angry condition. They like to heat up on the sun . Their movements on the land are exactly the same as crocodile.

Setting sail!

All our way back we had party with non-stop drinks. Time passed quickly, I remembered setting sail by all people and flying fish, which were making huge jumps (few dozens of meters) along the way of catamaran movement. Such a tour we’ve got !
